Position Title: Maintenance Specialist | Supervisor: HFV Director |
Position Purpose:
To clean and maintain the H.F.V. Wilson Community Center building and grounds, maintain center vehicles and to perform other duties relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- All functions pertaining to the cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, wax floors, vacuum carpets, clean windows and any other necessary duties.
- Remove trash from building grounds and empty trash cans; clean restrooms and water fountains; operate mowers, edger and trimmers to cut grass, prune trees as necessary and perform landscape duties.
- Ensure all safety and fire regulations are followed.
- Open and close buildings, unlock doors, and turn off alarms.
- Pick up mail and deliver when needed.
- Transport senior citizens to activities when necessary.
- Assist in kitchen with food programs when asked.
- Assist in setup and take down of special events when asked.
- Perform routine daily inspections on vehicles, such as gas levels, oil levels, tire pressure, etc., to ensure the safety of our passengers
- Maintain vehicle maintenance logs
- Pick up and deliver regional food products
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 12 months related experience preferred
Certificates and Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.
- Principles and procedures of building maintenance, vehicle maintenance and landscaping
- Current building safety and fire regulations.
- Ability to operate a variety of maintenance equipment, including electric buffer, turf maintenance equipment, vacuum cleaner, dollies, and various electric and power hand tools.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written).

Job Description
Position Title: Program Coordinator | Supervisor: Director HFV |
Position Purpose:
To supervise, direct and coordinate all recreation classes, camps and assist with all special events on a city wide basis. To hire, train, supervise and evaluate all instructors and staff that provides recreation services in the program area. To perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Oversee daily operation of assigned programs: basketball, choir, exercise classes, dance classes, etc.
- Assist with programs and activities, fundraisers, special events during business hours, evenings and weekends for the HFV Wilson Center.
- Production and printing monthly calendar of events.
- Plan and schedule of programs/events.
- Operate and oversee use of AV equipment, computer equipment and software.
- Assist with recruitment, training and retention of volunteers.
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for providing various recreational opportunities for the community.
- Prepare and administer program budget; submit budget recommendations, monitor expenditures.
- Develop awareness packages for outside agencies and other groups to increase participation; produce written marketing materials as they relate to programs, advertising, newsletters, internet information and program flyers.
- Establish schedules and methods for providing recreation services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
- Ability to supervise, hire, train and evaluate all instructors, camp staff and special event staff that provides recreation services.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of community recreation.
- Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquires and complaints.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree
- Two or more years of recreation experience including 12 to 18 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Must be CPRP certified or obtain CPRP certification within the first year of employment.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of operations, services and activities of a community recreation program.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of administering community recreation programs.
- Supervise, organize and review the work of lower level staff.
- Able to develop recreational curriculums for instructional procedures.
- Able to select and train new recreation instructors and plan schedules; monitor and evaluate a quality customer oriented staff and their activities.
- Knowledge of marketing and promotional strategies.
- Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
